Sporting less boosters, more wings, and landing gear, the Horibird, one of several, is wheeled out.

Once more, the boosters light to hopefully send the beast skyward...

...Which it does, for a few seconds, before losing control and diving into the ice sheet.

Trying again a few shifts later, the next Horibird doesn't even make it off the runway in one piece.

Third time's the charm, though, and powered flight is finally sustained.

Having a rudimentary fly-by-wire system, as well as remote control from ground operators, the solid-motored flier finally beats the odds.

Soon, though, the boosters flame out, and it's time to try and land. A slow and careful descent is plotted...

However, Oshan is still merciless. Level flight is only possible at dangerously high speeds, and only the most careful touchdown will see it through.

It could have been a divot in the ice, a bad control input, or the landing gear giving out. The result is the same.

Rollin' rollin' rollin'...
